Marie L. Radford, became acting dean when Dr. Woodsworth was made Pratt’s acting provost on June 1, 2002. Marie Radford continued as acting dean of the School of Information and Library Science from 2002-2004. An associate professor at Pratt from 1996-2004, she was tenured in 2001. A Rutgers University alumna, Dr. Radford received her Ph.D. from Rutgers School of Communication and Information in 1993 and she holds an M.S.L.S from Syracuse University and a B.A. from The College of New Jersey. She is currently a professor in the Department of Library and Information Science and Director of the Ph.D. Program in the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University. She has authored many books in the library and information field, with a special focus on reference services.

Anne Woodsworth was the dean of Pratt’s School of Information and Library Science from 1999-2001. Dr. Woodsworth was made Pratt’s acting provost on June 1, 2002, and Marie L. Radford became acting dean of SILS at that time. Anne Woodsworth holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration, University of Pittsburgh, an M.L.S. from the University of Toronto, and a B.F.A. from the University of Manitoba. Prior to coming to Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science, she served as dean of the Palmer School of Library and Information Sciences of Long Island University for seven years, 1991-1998. She is a consultant and the author of numerous books and articles on library and information technology management.

The electronic files included in this collection date from 2000-2002. They were created primarily by Anne Woodsworth, dean of Pratt’s School of Information and Library Science from 1999-2001. Dean Woodsworth’s files were passed to Marie L. Radford, who became acting dean of SILS when Dr. Woodsworth was made Pratt’s acting provost on June 1, 2002. This period of time was a very active one administratively because Pratt Institute was in the midst of the Middle States accreditation process. The documents indicate that a major revision of the SILS core curriculum took place and that Pratt entered a period of strategic planning. Among records included are documents related to the accreditation process; faculty meeting agendas, minutes and updates; statistical reports; reports related to the curriculum; syllabi and course planning documentation. Pertinent subseries, organized alphabetically by subject, have been created to reflect the content covered by the electronic records in this collection

Electronic records designed for public use (e.g., course descriptions, faculty listings, etc.) are available to researchers upon request, with some such select records are made available through this online finding aid. Other records are available to researchers 20 years after creation via an on-site research terminal.
The Pratt Institute School of Information On-site Archives and Special Collections is open and available for access from Monday to Thursday from 11a-3pm during the Fall and Spring semesters, by appointment only. To request materials, please contact Anthony Cocciolo at acocciol@pratt.edu.
